“He that drinks his cyder alone, let him catch his horse alone“

- Benjamin Franklin

Bird Dog is a family operation started by two brothers with a love for apples and a lot of help from good friends.  We grew up on a farm in the heart of Western New York State apple country, which our dad still operates. He has 130 acres of the best eating apples and classic cider varieties like Kingston Black, Dabinett, Porter’s Perfection, Yarlington Mill, and Golden Russet. Currently our ciders are made from apples that come from there.

Adjacent to Great Bay with rich soils, Bird Dog Farm & Cidery is located on farm land that dates to the early 1700s. For most of its colonial history the farm was pasture land and dairy. A 1950s dairy barn houses the cidery and future tasting room. Some wild apple trees dot the landscape, and in May 2022 we planted our first orchard. In the next few years we will expand the orchard and begin to harvest the first apples for cider making and pick-your-own.

We hope to carry on the long tradition of cider making in New England. Using only high-quality apples, the right varieties, and time-tested methods, we produce a variety of dry ciders for all to enjoy. Our cider is a tribute to family and friends, old and new, especially our mother who inspired this endeavor and so much more.
